I was looking different parental controls. Does anyone have experience with parental controls? What are your thoughts? Thanks!

Short answer is: They are un-reliable.
We have tried using Microsoft family safety. It took a lot of effort to keep dealing with it's false positives and as far as I know, it never prevented anything useful.
I personally would always favour just keeping the PC in a public area and keeping an eye on what they are up to. Combine this with teaching them how to stay safe online and then once they are old enough allow them to use a PC / laptop in their bedroom or wherever, possibly with a family safety type application monitoring what they are doing so you can assess if they can still be trusted.
