Hi, my 2 year old boy has lately missed many naps. There is no question he still needs them, however he would just be in his bed for 2 hours without falling asleep. Sometimes he does, within 20 min, and sometimes he just does not. I don't think it's a lack of routine, we have a pretty stable routine. Have tried putting him to bed earlier, later, no coming in at all, or come in to check... Being angry, or being calm.... any ideas?

thanks!

My son went through a phase like this when he was about 2 and a half years old. The days he skipped his naps I put him to bed early and he made up his sleep that way... but just be consistent and he will get with the program again. In the meantime I wish you lots of patience. Good luck.

Both of my daughters went through this around the same age. I found that what helped the most was making sure they had a lot of activity in the morning. If it was a day where we played quietly at home all morning, they weren't likely to nap. If we went outside, they had an opportunity to run around, or even if we just ran errands in the morning, they were much more likely to nap.
