This past weekend I took my daughter's to a baby shower. We all had a great time; however, since then my 5 year old has become a little bit obsessed with pregnancy. She has decided that she would like to throw a baby shower or her own, which is pretty typical. Being a smart girl, she has realized that someone has to be having a baby for the baby shower so since that time she has tucked her baby doll under her shirt and decided she will be pregnant until the shower. I am okay with imaginary play (both girls pretended to nurse their dolls after their baby brother came home from the hospital), but something about the enduring nature of this imaginary play is bothering me. She didn't just walk around with a doll under her shirt for an hour or so, she insists that it is there all the time, while she plays, while she eats, all the time. I did get her to agree that the doll needed to stay home when we left the house.

My husband thinks this is perfectly normal and a good learning experience for her; however, I am a little bothered by the behavior. Any thoughts, experiences to draw from? What would you think or do?
