I want to buy some music and make a play list of songs that are great for kids and great for parents. I think with everyone here, we could compile a good list of songs.

Let's make some quick, general guidelines:

  • Kid appropriate (2 to 5 years old).
  • Must not make the parent's crazy
  • Any genre

Anything I have to hear 100x per week drives me crazy but some way more than others. Good idea for a community wiki.

I love this question, I added a smiliar "you-tube video" question too.

I have heard a lot of parents rave about Rockabye Baby, songs from artists like U2, The Beatles, Queen, ACDC, made into lullabies.

African Playground published by Putumayo.

Our whole family loves this CD, and I enjoy listening to this CD even if the kids are not in the car. Almost all of the song's are not in English, so I wouldn't know this was a childrens music unless it was labeled as such. Great rhythms, catchy songs, happy music that makes you want to smile and sing-a-long.
