My 12 week old has been going to bed earlier and earlier lately. This week's bed time is 6:30 p.m. Is this a good bed time?

In my experience, 12 weeks is a bit early to try and get them on a sleep schedule. As they get a bit older - more toward the 6 month mark you can get them onto any bed time you want. They key is to create a schedule that works for you. If you are a night owl, keep them up later so that it works for you or alternatively if you are a morning person, put them to bed really early so they work with you. It's all up to you.

DazedandConfused Here are responses to a similar question. http://moms4mom.com/questions/1268/average-bedtime although it appears they were referring to older children.

At 12 weeks our daughter would sometimes go down around 6:30 for what I considered more of an evening nap at the time. She often woke up around 8:00 for a feeding and would go back to sleep around 9:00.

My son is a bit older ( 18 weeks) but i have always put him down around 7 because he fell into that routine, plus it works for us as thats my 2 1/2 year olds bedtime. They both sleep from 7 till 7.

How many times does your 18-week old get up to eat in that period?

He doesn't wake at night for a feed. He has 7ozs at 7, 11, 3 then 7.

My 2 year old and my 3 month old both go down at 7:00 pm and wake at 7:00 am. It's AMAZING. Of course, the 3 month old wakes a few times during the night to feed as well. We love how they are in sync and it gives us a couple of hours in the evening of quiet adult time. We spend most of it on our computers however!

My baby started going to bed around 7pm when he was about 3 months old. I noticed that he was fussy everyday at around 7pm and it just naturally became his bedtime. Since the clocks turned back a few weeks ago, he goes to bed at 6pm now. I've enjoyed the extra hour in the evenings for myself!
