I've been reading through the various benefits available for parents in the UK. It all seems to be hilariously complicated.

I know I could plug in the various rates and thresholds into a spreadsheet to work out what, if any, benefits we are eligible for. What would be nice though if there is an online resource where I can plug in a few numbers and get a summary of the benefits we are entitled to and what forms we need to fill in.

Does any such resource exist?

As suggested in the comments, I've also asked this on Basically Money.

This might also be a good question to ask at www.basicallymoney.com!

Here's what I've found so far:

I found this page for calculating tax credits entitlements. It doesn't cover all the benefits but it is a start.

There's also a one-off benefit of £190 payable after week 25 of pregnancy. See this page for details.

You can claim £20/week for the first child and £13.20/week for each subsequent child. There's an online form (pdf) you can fill out.

When you go for your 25 week check up at the doctors they give you a form for £190 grant, then when baby is born, you get given a bounty pack in there is a form for child benefit and how to register your childs birth. once you have the birth certificate you can claim child benifits and tax credits. You will also get sent a £250 voucher to invest normally a couple of weeks after baby is born. http://www.childtrustfund.gov.uk/ http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/YourMoney/DG_10016699 http://www.taxcredits.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/ http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/childcare/interaction-tc-cv.htm
