Now that we have the grossest parenting stories thread going, we'd like to know what sticks in your mind as the best parenting moment so far?

(If we're going to scare off would-be parents with the bad stuff, we owe it to them to share the good stuff too.)

Seeing my little boy, who is two, starting to take care of his one year old sister. He takes her hand and leads her to where they need to go, teaches her new things, feeds her, comforts her when she cries... It melts my heart!

Coming home, opening the door, little and big girls shouting "Daddy!" and dropping everything to run into my arms and smother me with kisses.

When my son laughed for the first time. We were lucky enough to get it on camera. He laughed so hard he made himself cough!

It's a little early to have many experiences with our unborn child, but last week we heard that from about 26 weeks onwards in the pregnancy the baby will kick strongly if you shine a light into the belly when it is awake.
We did this and the baby started dancing, it was pretty awesome.

I loved the look in her eyes just before she would smile when I spoke to her as a baby. Intense eye to eye contact is really amazing and moving.

My favorite time is every time one of them does something that makes me smile.

Best moments so far would be:

  • First laugh
  • First real hug
  • First time she looked at me and said "mama" and I knew she was actually addressing me.

Now one of my favorite things is to put on music and watch her dance around the living room.
