I was curious what type of education did you choose for your children and why? Did you decide to send your kids to a public school, private school (Montessori, religious or other) or home school them yourself. What are some things you really like about your child's education? What are some disadvantages to your choice?

Our choice was easy: our daughter goes to the same elementary school my wife did.

My wife's family has been part of the same parish for many decades, and she and her brothers went to the school run by the church when they were kids. At the time, it was a small building, just 3 classrooms and the teachers were all nuns. The school has moved since then, but it's close to where we live and it's still a highly rated school so it was a no-brainer to put our daughter there.

Even if it hadn't been her parish, my wife is Chinese, and she's Catholic, and this is the only Chinese, Catholic elementary school in the city. We like the association with the church and it's nice that my wife and her mother already knew some of the staff and teachers.
