Our son asks for something for a snack, then says he's not hungry but wants a different snack. I do not indulge this behavior, but it is not going away! What is causing this and why won't he stop? I usually tell him "no new snacks till you finish the first one" but often he'll just leave it so I'll end up refrigerating it. I'd like to end this tug of war!!

My five year old does this, and has since he was about three years old. I usually offer a couple of options at snack-time. When he's chosen, he's chosen, and that's what he gets until the next scheduled meal or snack (we generally do breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner). I agree it can be SO aggravating to have him forever changing his mind, but I try to just let it go. If I don't make a big issue of it, and just ask him to set it in the refrigerator, he usually comes back to eat it after a little while. And if he doesn't...he wasn't really hungry. :)
