We let our children brush their own teeth but we insist that an adult also brushes for them (since we don't trust them to do it well enough).

From what age would you consider children to be dexterous and dependable enough to brush their own teeth with no supervision?

The Canadian Dental Association says:

When your child can write (not print) his or her name, your child is ready to do a good job brushing. You should check to make sure your child does a good job.
