How much do you spend on a baby shower gift? Lets make this a 2 part question - firstly a family member and secondly a friend. |
For a family member, I would normally spend anywhere between $50-$100 depending on what they needed. For a friend it varies depending on how close I am to them, could be anywhere between $20-$75. I usually go by what the couple needs and if it is their first child, second child, etc or if it is their first girl or first boy. 2
Yep I agree. I just bought a baby gift for a close friend and spent $60 (on something I know she really wants). I have another "occasional" friend and I bought her something off her registry for $25. AND I always throw in a package of diapers. :)

For a family member I usually start as soon I learn of the pregnancy and make a personalized or unique baby blanket for the kid. And I do this for each child. For friends, depending on how busy I am and how close I am to the parents, I may make a blanket or buy something in the $20 - $30 range off their registry. I also tend to give them Teething Tablets since I found those very helpful with my children. I got teething tablets as a gift and I thought it was very thoughtful! :) Especially since I had never heard of them.

They are little white tablets that dissolve in the mouth. The bottle says they are homeopathic. I just came across them one day in the vitamin section at Wal-Mart and decided to try them on my daughter. They worked like a charm so now I pass them on to other new parents.

I spend $25.00 for friends and family. If it is someone I am very close to I spend more. I usually get something for the baby and then a box of chocolates for mom. |
I spend about 25 bucks. I appreciated the baby shampoo that I received at my shower. I also love books so was very happy to receive a bunch of those for my daughter. Check the registry too-are they going green and doing the cloth diapers-I'd be careful about buying diapers. You never know. |
